Dr. Farkas Bence
obstetrician-gynecologist, endocrinologist

I was born in Budapest in 1987, at the Szabolcs Street Medical Continuing Education Institute. It is an interesting coincidence that I now work alongside the same doctors from this institute, located on the same street.
After spending my foundational years in the capital, I continued my studies in 2001 at the Czuczor Gergely Benedictine Grammar School. After these years of growth, I pursued my medical education at Semmelweis University of Medicine. In 2011, I proudly received my general medical degree with cum laude distinction.
As a medical student in my sixth year, I decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. Before that, I spent some time exploring other specialties, but ultimately chose what I consider to be the most complex field. Obstetrics and gynecology requires knowledge in internal medicine (differential diagnostics, pharmacological treatments), radiology (ultrasound diagnostics), surgery (procedures), as well as a specific set of skills, particularly in managing childbirth. Although the latter may be seen as a gift after mastering the previous three areas, I find it an essential aspect of the profession.
I consider screening tests to be a vital part of medicine. A gynecologist must perform excellently in this area, as they can screen all female reproductive organs through palpation, instrumentation, ultrasound, and laboratory tests. In addition to cervical cancer screening, they also conduct screenings or pre-screenings for the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts.
I experienced the multifaceted nature of this profession during my 8 years at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Honvéd Hospital. Over the course of more than 1,000 deliveries, major and minor surgeries, and night shifts, I came to realize that I wanted to help women struggling with infertility. Over the years, my focus shifted towards the causes and treatment of infertility, which led me to spend more and more time at the Honvéd Hospital’s Fertility Centre. After a year there, I moved on to join the Forgács Institute, a comprehensive center specializing in fertility treatment.
I place significant emphasis on thoroughly investigating the causes of infertility in both partners, which is why I continuously participate in professional training. I have also obtained a subspecialty qualification in endocrinology to further enhance my expertise.
Focusing on the “goal” of the couples who turn to me—often after years of trying to conceive—I aim to initiate the necessary treatments as quickly as possible, such as ovulation induction, insemination, and IVF programs.
