Portait of Dr. Forgács Vince

I was one of the pioneers involved in the introduction of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments in Hungary.

I obtained my medical degree in 1970 from the Budapest University of Medical Sciences, graduating with honors, Sub Auspiciis Rei Publicae Popularis (with the government ring). I worked at the II. Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Budapest University of Medical Sciences, where I completed my specialization in obstetrics and gynecology.
In 1979, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor in charge at the clinic.
Following this, I became the Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jahn Ferenc South Pest Hospital and Polyclinic, and later led the department for nearly 10 years. During this time, I established one of the busiest and most renowned obstetrics and gynecology departments in the capital. I was involved in scientific collaboration with the I. Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Budapest University of Medical Sciences, which aimed to establish IVF in Hungary. Simultaneously, I conducted extensive laparoscopic teaching activities organized by the Medical Continuing Education Institute. Many professionals learned laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and microsurgical treatment of tubal obstructions leading to infertility under my supervision. During this period, I also studied at prestigious institutions abroad, such as Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Bourn Hall in Cambridge, and Pittsburgh.

In line with my primary scientific interest, I consciously expanded my knowledge in the field of assisted reproduction, which led to the establishment of one of the first successful IVF working groups at the South Pest Hospital. We were among the first in the country to perform successful IVF treatments. My professional activities spanned nearly all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, with a special focus on infertility, including operative laparoscopy, surgical treatments, and IVF procedures. During this time, I mentored numerous doctors and embryologists in this field.

I defended my dissertation on the comparison of microsurgical tubal surgery and IVF outcomes at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, earning the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

In 1999, I founded the Fertility Institute specializing in assisted reproduction. From 2002 onward, I relinquished my hospital leadership position and devoted all my energy to the successful operation of the institute.

Under my leadership, the Fertility Institute has now expanded from its original 300 m² space to nearly 1000 m², with the addition of two new buildings, following the architectural path set by my family.

The ownership change in 2019 did not slow the momentum of my work, and after merging with Dunamenti REK Ltd., we have continued to improve and develop both our results and the conditions of our work, including human and material resources.
I am a founding member of the Hungarian Gynecological Endoscopic Society and the Hungarian Assisted Reproductive Society.

In recognition of my professional work, I have received several state awards.
Since 2013, I have been an honorary citizen of Pesterzsébet.

Currently, I serve as the Medical Director of the institute. I have been married for 56 years and have two daughters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
